QR codes on printed handouts?
Your bridge to get audience from offline to online access. [BLO002]

Unknown | Friday, August 15, 2014 | / / |

When you hand over an offer, white paper, presentation, feasibility study,.. on ‘printed’ paper. Wouldn't it be great to ease online access to the electronic version of these ? By providing a QR code on a printed-paper you could in fact ease access to these documents for later ‘online’ reading.
Let's find out. What are the advantages of using QR?

What’s in it for your audience when distributing paper?

  • A simple scan of the QR code brings them from paper to the electronic version of the document.
  • Documents can be accesses as from tablet, smartphone or any Internet connected device that can scan QR code.
  • If additional changes have been applied to the document over time. Your audience always has access to the most actualized version of the document.

What’s in it for the author?

  • Third party can’t delete your document. Nor can document content be altered or modified by your audience since you are managing access rights.
  • You can still actualize your document by applying document changes and uploading new actualized revisions without need to initiate a new QR code.
  • Through Google Drives revision history regarding uploaded files you as author, keep track of the history of your documentchanges over time.
  • Track in Goo.gl, your shortened URL , by number of clicks. How many times has the document been accessed. Get insights in your audience and audience location accessing document.
It's chrystal clear that online access could mean a huge time saver for all parties since you're eliminating the hassle and confusion about document content, location and authenticity.

If you're looking for the Google Short URL service? It can be accessed here. I do recommend to sign in with your Google Account if you want to keep track of clicks history of your your shortened URL's.

See how you can manage revisions of a pdf document containing a QR code without being forced to regenerate a new QR code for each new pdf release. This is a great way to distribute printouts of documents and have full 'control over your content' over time.
